Jay practices criminal defense.  He has particular expertise tackling difficult post-conviction matters in federal court, including high-stakes appeals and collateral proceedings.

Prior to founding his own firm, Jay was a partner at Coleman & Balogh LLP—an acclaimed boutique firm in San Francisco—where he specialized in federal defense at the trial and appellate levels.

Following law school, Jay served as a law clerk for the Honorable D. Lowell Jensen, United States District Judge for the Northern District of California.
